Bank Statement Password

There is no single bank statement password: each bank builds it from details only you and the bank know, usually your customer ID, account number, or the first four letters of your name with your date of birth.

Formats checked on 2 November 2026. Examples use a made-up customer: Priya Sharma, born 15 August 1990, mobile 98765 43210, credit card ending 4321. “Confirmed by the bank” means the bank states the format itself; “commonly reported” formats come from account holders and are not published by the bank, so the note in your statement email takes precedence.

Credit card statement passwords

Credit card statements often use a different password from the same bank's account statements, and some cards are issued by a separate company. None of these formats is published by the issuer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the password for a bank statement PDF?

There is no single password. Each bank builds it from your own details, usually the customer ID, the account number, or the first four letters of your name with your date of birth. Find your bank in the table above.

Why are bank statements password protected?

A statement lists your account number, balance and every transaction. The password keeps the PDF unreadable to anyone who intercepts the email or file but does not know your details.

Are bank statement passwords case sensitive?

Yes. A PDF password is case sensitive, so PRIY1508 and priy1508 are different passwords. Banks that use name letters say whether they are capitals or lower case.

What if none of the formats open my statement?

Read the email or download screen that came with the statement, since banks usually describe the rule there. Then check that your name and date of birth match the bank's records, download the statement again, or ask your branch.

How do I remove the password from a bank statement?

Open the PDF with its password and save or print a copy without protection in your PDF reader. To work with the transactions, convert the statement to Excel on this page instead.

Is it safe to use the password finder?

The finder runs entirely in your browser. The details you type and the PDF you choose are not uploaded; they are only used on your device to try the bank's formats.
