APNG to GIF Converter with Frame and Timing Control

Convert an animated PNG into a widely compatible GIF on your device. Keep the full animation, choose palette size, dimensions, and speed, then preview the transparency-aware result before downloading.

APNG alpha is reduced to GIF's transparent-or-opaque pixels.

How to convert APNG to GIF

Choose an APNG, set the GIF palette, dimensions, and timing, then encode and download the animation locally.

01

Choose an APNG

Select or drop one animated .apng or .png file up to 25 MB.

02

Set GIF output

Choose 64, 128, or 256 colors, limit the width if needed, and keep or change playback speed.

03

Preview and download

Encode all frames locally, inspect the resulting GIF and file size, then download it.

High-quality APNG to GIF controls

GIF has stricter color and transparency limits, so palette and sizing choices directly affect output quality and file size.

APNG vs GIF: what changes

The animation remains, but GIF trades APNG's rich color and alpha for broader legacy compatibility.

Local animation decoding and GIF encoding

The converter reads full APNG frames, applies your output settings, and builds standard GIF data entirely in this browser.

Complete APNG decoding

Full composited RGBA frames and their millisecond delays are read before GIF encoding begins.

Per-frame GIF palettes

Each rendered frame receives a dedicated palette for better color use within GIF's 256-color ceiling.

Honest transparency conversion

Semi-transparent APNG edges must become fully transparent or opaque because GIF has no partial alpha channel.

Responsive browser limits

Input is limited to 25 MB, 200 frames, and 100 megapixel-frames to avoid excessive local memory use.

APNG to GIF converter FAQ

How do I convert APNG to GIF?

Choose an .apng or animated .png file above, select the GIF colors, maximum width, and speed, then choose Convert to GIF and download the previewed result.

Will APNG to GIF keep every animation frame?

Yes, up to the displayed 200-frame and megapixel limits. Frame order and timing are preserved, with timing adjusted only when you select a different speed.

Why can APNG to GIF lose quality?

APNG can contain millions of colors and smooth alpha transparency. GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame and binary transparency, so gradients and soft edges require reduction.

Can the GIF keep APNG transparency?

Fully transparent pixels are retained. Partial alpha cannot exist in GIF, so semi-transparent pixels are reduced to transparent or opaque output.

Why is the converted GIF larger than the APNG?

GIF uses older LZW compression and may store animation less efficiently. Reducing maximum width, palette colors, or frame count at the source can lower size.

Is the APNG uploaded?

No. APNG decoding, palette creation, GIF encoding, preview, and download all happen on this device.
