JFIF to JPEG Converter
Convert .jfif files to high-quality .jpeg images in your browser. Batch processing is free, and your images stay on your device.
How to convert JFIF to JPEG
The converter re-encodes each readable JFIF image as a standard browser-generated JPEG. Your original files remain unchanged.
Upload JFIF files
Choose or drag one or more .jfif, .jfi, or .jif images into the converter.
Convert automatically
The browser re-encodes each readable image as a .jpeg file at the maximum JPEG quality setting.
Preview and download
Convert the batch, review every result, then download one JPEG or save all results as a ZIP.
JFIF vs JPEG vs JPG
JFIF, JPEG, and JPG are closely related, but the filename extension can affect whether an app accepts the image. This tool creates a fresh .jpeg file.
| Name | Extensions | What it means | This tool |
|---|---|---|---|
| JFIF | .jfif, .jfi, .jif | A JPEG interchange format and filename convention | Accepted as input |
| JPEG | .jpeg | The standard long filename extension for JPEG images | Generated output |
| JPG | .jpg | A shorter extension for the same JPEG image format | Related extension |
What changes during conversion
A real conversion is more reliable than changing a filename alone. It also has a few tradeoffs worth knowing before you process important images.
Image dimensions stay the same
The converter keeps the original pixel width and height unless the browser cannot decode the source image.
JPEG compression is lossy
The image is re-encoded at the maximum browser JPEG quality. Conversion is still technically lossy, so avoid repeated re-encoding.
Metadata is normally removed
Browser canvas export usually drops EXIF, camera, location, and other embedded metadata from the downloaded copy.
Files stay on this device
Decoding, conversion, previews, and ZIP creation run locally in your browser. The converter does not upload the images.
Why images save as JFIF
A website, browser response, or Windows file association can cause a JPEG-family image to use the .jfif extension. Use these guides to fix the source of the problem or convert files you already downloaded.

JFIF to JPEG FAQ
How do I convert JFIF to JPEG?
Add one or more JFIF files. Conversion starts automatically at maximum JPEG quality. Preview the results, then download one .jpeg file or the complete batch as a ZIP.
Is this JFIF to JPEG converter free?
Yes. File selection, batch conversion, previews, individual downloads, and ZIP downloads are free and do not require an account.
Can I batch convert JFIF files to JPEG?
Yes. Select several .jfif, .jfi, or .jif files at once. Each result is kept separate, and the full batch can be downloaded as one ZIP archive.
What is the difference between JFIF, JPEG, and JPG?
JFIF is a common way of storing JPEG-compressed image data. JPEG and JPG usually describe the same image format with different filename extensions: .jpeg and .jpg.
Can I rename .jfif to .jpg or .jpeg?
Renaming works in some apps because many JFIF files already contain JPEG image data. Re-encoding is more reliable when a website or application still rejects the renamed file.
Does conversion reduce image quality?
It can. JPEG re-encoding is lossy, but this tool always uses the maximum browser JPEG quality to preserve as much visible detail as possible.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. This converter processes the selected images in your browser. The source files and converted results stay on your device.
Does the converter keep EXIF metadata?
Usually not. Browser-generated JPEG files normally exclude EXIF, GPS, camera, and other embedded metadata.
