AVIF to JPG Converter for High-Quality Batch Images
Convert one AVIF file or a batch into broadly compatible JPG images. Choose the output quality and background, then download each result or a ZIP.
No files selected
Conversion runs locally in your browser. Your AVIF images never leave this device.
How to convert AVIF to JPG
Upload AVIF images, choose JPG quality and a background for transparent pixels, then convert and download the results.
Upload AVIF files
Choose up to 10 .avif images, with a 20 MB limit per file.
Choose JPG settings
Set quality from 60 to 100 and choose white or black for transparent areas.
Download JPG results
Convert the queue, download one JPG, or save a completed batch as a ZIP.
JPG quality and transparency controls
JPG does not support transparency. The converter flattens transparent AVIF pixels onto the background you choose before encoding.
| Control | Setting | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| JPG quality | 60-100 | Higher values preserve more detail and usually create larger files |
| Transparent pixels | White or black | JPG needs a solid background |
| Batch size | Up to 10 files | Processes files independently so one error does not stop the queue |
| File limit | 20 MB each | Prevents oversized uploads and excessive memory use |
AVIF vs JPG: what changes
AVIF is newer and often smaller, while JPG opens in more apps. Conversion creates new pixels in a JPEG container and does not improve source detail.
| Characteristic | Source | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Compression | Modern AV1-based image compression | Lossy JPEG compression |
| Transparency | Supported | Not supported; flattened to a solid color |
| Compatibility | Modern browsers and newer apps | Nearly universal image support |
| Typical size | Often smaller | Often larger for similar visual quality |
| Metadata | May contain image metadata | This converter does not copy source metadata |
What happens during conversion
Each file is decoded, flattened when needed, and encoded as a real JPEG. The source file remains unchanged.
A real JPEG file
The output is decoded and re-encoded with a valid JPEG file structure. It is not an extension rename.
No quality recovery
Changing AVIF to JPG cannot create detail that is missing from the source image.
Local browser processing
AVIF decoding, transparency flattening, JPG encoding, previews, and downloads happen on your device.
Original dimensions
Pixel width and height are preserved unless the decoder rejects an invalid or oversized image.

AVIF to JPG FAQ
How do I convert an AVIF file to JPG?
Upload one or more AVIF files, choose JPG quality and a transparency background, then select Convert to JPG and download the results.
Is this AVIF to JPG converter free?
Yes. The converter is free to use for batches of up to 10 files within the displayed size limits.
Can I batch convert AVIF files to JPG?
Yes. Add up to 10 AVIF images, download files individually, or save completed results in one ZIP archive.
Does converting AVIF to JPG reduce quality?
It can. JPG is a lossy format, so encoding introduces another compression step. Choose a higher quality value when detail matters.
What happens to an AVIF transparent background?
JPG cannot store transparency. Transparent pixels are flattened onto the white or black background selected in the tool.
Are my AVIF images uploaded to a server?
No. AVIF decoding, JPG encoding, previews, and ZIP creation run locally in your browser. Your selected images never leave your device.
Does the JPG keep EXIF or color profile metadata?
No. This converter creates a clean JPG from visible pixels and does not copy EXIF, GPS, comments, or source metadata.
What is the difference between JPG and JPEG?
JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format. The shorter .jpg extension exists because older systems used three-character file extensions.
